Big Bear Mountain is coming to Dollywood this spring! As the longest roller coaster at Dollywood, this thrilling new ride takes guests of all ages on an unforgettable expedition in search of the Big Bear! The non-stop action takes place around the Wildwood Grove section of the park and is sure to have your entire family screaming in delight! Here are the top 3 things to know about this new roller coaster at Dollywood:

1. The Ride Experience

Big Bear Mountain is a family-friendly ride that is fun for the kids, while still offering enough thrills for roller coaster enthusiasts! Rather than a traditional lift hill, the ride starts off with a breathtaking launch that shoots you right into action immediately! During the nearly 4,000-foot-long ride, you’ll experience lots of airtime filled dips, tight curves, a waterfall, and more! While the track reaches just 66 feet at its highest elevation, you’ll be traveling at speeds of 48 miles per hour in the 20-passenger trains! This is sure to be a coaster where you’ll want to get back in line to ride again and again!

2. Theming Elements

Wildwood Grove section of Dollywood Another one of the top things to know about the new roller coaster at Dollywood is that it is themed to an expedition in search of Wildwood Grove’s most storied and elusive inhabitant, Big Bear! You’ll join Ned Oakley, the Grove’s resident explorer, who knows a thing or two about this hidden land and is setting up the Adventure Outpost Base Camp. This is where you’ll board Ned’s specially-outfitted, four-wheel drive SUVs for the ride of your life! To make things even more interesting, the coaster cars are equipped with an onboard audio system that includes music and announcements from Ned Oakley himself!

3. Ride Restrictions

Since Big Bear Mountain is designed as a family ride, parents will be delighted to know that the minimum height requirement is just 39 inches! This is the same minimum height requirement as the Dragonflier and FireChaser Express, giving Dollywood several mid-sized coasters that the whole family can ride together! The Big Bear Mountain is also a great way to work up to some of the more extreme roller coasters in the park, such as Lightning Rod, Wild Eagle, Thunderhead, and the Tennessee Tornado!
